Tattoo Aftercare
At Frederick Tattoo Studio, we care about your tattoo even after it's done. Proper aftercare is crucial for the healing process and the longevity of your tattoo. We provide detailed instructions for the first day and the healing process to ensure your tattoo heals beautifully. Our aftercare guide also includes a what to expect section for knowledge about your healing progression. Follow us on social media for more aftercare tips and updates from our studio.

The First Day
On the first day, your artist will clean the area and cover it with a bandage. Within a few hours, you may notice some oozing of plasma, ink, and a bit of blood- that is completely normal. Leave the bandage on for the recommended amount of time told by your artist unless skin sensitivity appears from the bandage or if there is an area exposed from the bandage pulling up at the corners. This bandage is waterproof and germ proof unless punctured.
Healing Process
Once you remove the bandage after the desired amount of time you were told to leave it on, gently wash the tattoo with unscented soap and warm water. Continue washing the area 2-3 times daily until tattoo is healed. The area may feel tender and warm similar to a sunburn. After cleaning, pat it dry and add a very thin layer of ointment of recommended aftercare from your artist every time you wash. Avoid touching it, tight fitted shirts, sun exposure, and soaking it in water.
